God Almighty, or the god of money?

Which do you worship?

God Almighty, or the god of money?

Like most prosperity gospel leaders have done, we should never degrade the meaning of offering money to the level of satisfying human needs.
We should only convey the message of offering money to God in relation to accomplishing His eternal purpose on earth, and what He has personally convicted in you.

Maybe God is speaking to you concerning a family struggling with their finances, where from your private offering they will experience God’s grace and come to know Him, or maybe about sponsoring a child so that through the sponsorship program this will give them the opportunity to know the gospel. These things can accomplish God’s eternal purpose, not forcing your Church members to donate so that you can buy a private jet* to travel to different countries to speak the (prosperity = false) gospel.

Dealing with mammon is not a matter of someone having many riches or someone who doesn’t have any riches; it is a matter of idolatry.

Someone who is poor can still worship money in his or her heart, and it is equally as dangerous as someone who is financially prosperous and worships mammon. The Bible clearly states that men are classified in two categories- men who worship God, and men who worship mammon.

In Luke 18:24-25, the Lord spoke of the difficulty for a man enslaved to mammon to enter into the kingdom of God, for they worship a false idol. To enter the kingdom of God as believers, we need to forsake all and live for God. We should never see the perspective on how money is offered, but on how we are delivered from the enslavement of mammon.

This is not saying that you can only make God happy if you live in poverty – this is saying, God wants us to be rich in Him.
